Nathan Ota

So I've been posting a lot of videos lately. They are easy, and I don't have to type anything really (which is better for me because I can never think of anything to write, quite horrible at describing things actually). I went to this art show a couple days ago and thought I would at least mention Nathan Ota. Ota's pop surrealism stands out for itself and each painting was absolutely incredible. Hollow-eyed birds, life-like trees, little robot dudes, swirly dunce caps, and upside down trees with underwear on them are what he excels at.  He's rad, I hope to see more of his work.

Going Home

Apparently he is making toys too!  I just found his blogspot, I think I'm going to become a fan.  Ooh.

Not just your average card trick

Wow. This woman is amazing.

I was not expecting this. She's adorable, and I got really emo watching this. Try not to tear up...

Space is cool

Thanks to the folks at Space.com and Hubble, the best images from the telescope were released today.    I thought these were freaking amazing.
"Pillars of Creation?
Undersea corral? Enchanted castles? Space serpents? On April 1, 1995, Hubble snapped this image of pillar-like structures in the Eagle nebula. These eerie, dark pillar-like structures are columns of cool, interstellar hydrogen gas and dust that serve as incubators for new stars.

There are a lot of really cool images here.  This next one is another favorite.
Crowning Jewel: The Cone Nebula
Resembling a nightmarish beast rearing its head from a crimson sea, this celestial object is actually just a pillar of gas and dust. Called the Cone Nebula (in NGC 2264) - so named because in ground-based images it has a conical shape - this monstrous pillar resides in a turbulent star-forming region. This picture, taken by the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) aboard the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, on May 11, 2002, shows the upper 2.5 light-years of the Cone, a height that equals 23 million roundtrips to the Moon. The entire pillar is seven light-years long.

All of the images are absolutely stunning.  Makes you think about how small and insignificant Earth is on the galactic scale.  Stars are being born and dying all over the universe.   And I wonder why it's so hard to do my laundry and go to the grocery store on a regular basis.

Shawn Johnson's stalker

Ok, so apparently US Olympic medal winning gymnast Shawn Johnson has a stalker.  So much so that he showed up to the set of Dancing with the Stars with duct tape, a gun, and lots of other scary ass shit.  Hopefully Shawn will never ever ever ever have a run-in with the dude.   I wish it was this guy, but it's not...He just seemed to fit the bill.

yeah, it's scarring.  Looks like he's been practicing his dancing though...

Update:  Shawn Johnson's stalker got pulled over on his way to DWTS to be with her!!  Here's the video.

As much as I love celebrity smut, it sucks that they have to deal with this.   Well, no one should have to deal with a stalker.  In any case, the guy has lost it.  Thinking he's going to convince her to marry him and they will have a beautiful relationship together.  Good Lord.  Gone right off the rails there.  AND he had duct tape, guns, and other weird shit in his car when these cops pulled him over, but they never searched the car.  He says all sorts of weird things, you'd think the cops would've noticed how nutz he is, or at least have the insight to maybe ask him wtf he's talking about, yammerin' on like the cops give a shit why he's speeding to someone he loves that doesn't know him yet.  Yeah.  Let that guy go.  Please.  I'm sure he's a totally decent guy in love. Oh, and by the way, any time someone says, "I know it might sound crazy..." it might be crazy.

I knew there was something wrong with the ShamWow guy!!!

YIKES!!!  The smoking gun has gotten a hold of the mug shot of Vince Shlomi, the ShamWow guy.  You can read all about it here.  No shit.  Guy freaking beat up a prostitute.

"Shlomi told cops he paid Harris about $1000 in cash after she "propositioned him for straight sex." Shlomi said that when he kissed Harris, she suddenly "bit his tongue and would not let go." Shlomi then punched Harris several times until she released his tongue..."

"..After freeing his tongue, a bleeding Shlomi ran to the Setai lobby, where security summoned cops. Harris refused to cooperate with officers, who recovered $930 from her purse. "Both parties had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from their persons," police reported. In a brief telephone interview, Harris declined to answer TSG questions about her run-in with Shlomi, though she did say she is considering a lawsuit against the pitchman. Asked if she worked as a hooker, Harris declined comment. As seen in the below mug shot, Shlomi was also injured during the fracas and, court records show, was treated at Mount Sinai Medical Center."

I'm just relieved to see he's decided to beat down his look with good 'ol fashioned booze and hookers.  Seriously though, how long ago were those commercials filmed?  He's really let himself go.  I'm kinda disappointed in Vince, I thought for sure we'd see him in infomercials to come.  You know, ShamWow is doing really great.  Lots of sales.  And they owe that to Vince.  Especially the scene where they "do it live" and then cut away.  I'm sure it works great anyway.

Another day goes by...

Ok, so my personal life has come crumbling down and I'm depressed. I might be out of it for a while. Be prepared for lots of posts like this. Argh, life sucks sometimes. Why not post cute pics, I say.

(thanks to cuteoverload.com)

AND OMG!  This video is freaking adorable!!!

Although I'm sad today....

Here's a vido of something unusual and kinda cute. Why is it that everything that is a baby is cute? Even crocodiles.

Some Vids

Now I'm not sure if this is going to get looked at or not, but it's a classic video that the BF just absolutely has to watch at least once a week I'm sure.  Featuring Ryan Adams, Hank III, Willie Nelson, and Keith Richards.  Dead Flowers

And one of my faves right now:

Crazy ski jump videos!!!

Ok, so I came across the second video on another site.  I tried to post it here, and it wouldn't embed, and in trying to find it on youtube I found the first.  Both are blogworthy.  So, the first video is of the world record highest ski jump (off a cliff) and the second is the highest half pipe jump.  Oodilally.  Apparently these guys are risktakers.  I'm just guessing.  Nutz.

Random photo(s) of the day.

What exactly is going on here???  Oompa Loompas?? Giant rabbits?  If I were there I would keep a safe distance from that crowd.  Looks dangerous.   I don't even really want to talk about the woman.... or man? hmmm...

After perusing the internet for another 5 minutes, I found this photo.  Might as well put it in here because it's equally, uh, interesting.
Found these jems at yesbutnobutyes.  I like that blog.

AAANNDD then just to keep up with the topic of the day, I'll add this one too.  It's a cat sitting on a glass table...but it looks...smurshed.  Weird.

But I guess that cat has nothing on this one.  This one looks like a serious ass-kicker:

Movie Weekend

Went out and got real haggard on Friday night seeing the Blakes at Chop Suey, so Saturday was spent going couch-hunting for the BF and watching movies.  Pretty much perfect way to bring in Daylight Savings.  Woo hoo to more light!!!

The funniest thing I watched all weekend was a skit about Cathy the comic character played by Andy Samberg on SNL during weekend update.  I had a video, but freakin NBC took it down.
Andy Samberg is so funny and adorable, even as an awkward aging comic character with self-esteem issues...I guess Justin Timberlake was pretty funny as Irving, although he seems like a prick.  His current squeeze Jessica Biel came in as Jessica Rabbit. I didn't even recognize her at first, probably her BEST ACTING EVER.   Anyway, it was good for a laugh, especially since I remember reading "Cathy" comic strip most of my young life and thinking what a loser she was.  ACK!!!

Finally got down to watching "Choke".  Chuck Palahniuk tells a good tale.  The BF says that the movie did a pretty good job interpreting the book, and I'm tempted to read it. It was a fun movie, though...lots of surprises.  Funny, witty, lots of sex-deviance.  It was like an onion, with all these layers....that's deep. I'm like an onion with all my layers.  Think about that. (Not about how I'm like an onion, how are you like an onion?)

Moving right along and away from my idiocy (there is actually no getting away but we can try).  Also watched the 1990 version of "Lord of the Flies".  It was pretty good, considering I haven't seen it since right around when it came out. Bathelzar Getty looks so freaking young!  I wish they would do a reunion with the kids of the movie and a where are they now....especially the actor that played Jack.  That kid cuts off a pig's head!!!!  Like, for reals.  He's got the knife, he cuts off the head.  Yikes.  That kid was like 15 years old or some shit.  Not right.  I bet he's totally messed up right now.  Could investigate, don't really care.  I'm just going to say trailer park and move on.

*note, i did actually investigate and it turns out Chris Furrh (Jack) did four movies in 1990 and then fell off the face of the earth!  Only thing I did find was a message board from 2006 and some guy was his roommate in 1992-93 and he lived in central Texas.  Now you can rest easy.

Finished a new headband.

So this is my headband.  It's a bit wide.  I was thinking of making it into a hat, but then I put my hair in a pony tail and figured I could at least use it while jogging in crisp Seattle weather.  Fascinating I know.  Even more interesting is that I think I'm going to make more!!   Yikes.  What did I eat today to make me feel so ambitious?    As a sidenote, I like how in this photo my nose could be as long as the imagination would like.  I'll replace this photo with a better one in the future...ha, no I won't!  I'm lazy as hell!
